The best place to enjoy fish and chips is at the beach! We’re so lucky living in the North East, as there are so many great fish and chip restaurants and takeaways that serve top quality fish and chips. My favourite is Colman’s! Who have started to offer a click and collect service during lockdown and it’s absolutely brilliant! So brilliant, that I’ve ordered from them twice within the last month!

Bao Bar, Heaton
Bao Bar is tiny – a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it kind of place. It’s found on Chillingham Road in Heaton (just outside of Newcastle) and is a small, walk-in bar offering steamed buns, small plates and pared drinks.
Love Lily Tearoom, Roker
The setting of Love Lily Tearoom is so enviable. The floor-to-ceiling windows look out over Roker Beach in Sunderland and there’s something just so delightful in settling down here for breakfast, brunch or lunch after a walk full of sea air.
Thali Tray, Ouseburn
Thali Tray is an Indian street food eatery found at Arch2 Brewpub & Kitchen in Ouseburn (just up the hill from Ouseburn Farm/ The Ship Inn). I’ve visited at least three times, and it’s always been great. There you go, review done. Just kidding…
