I've pulled together a list of 20+ local, independent places that are offering sweet treats that you can enjoy in your home. Some only deliver to certain postcodes, some are for collection only, and some are only available at certain times - but, most definitely, they are all delicious!
(AD) Let me introduce to you a luxury chocolate egg that has it all - and is made right here in the North East of England (Pelaw, Gateshead to be exact): the Natural Spring Salt Egg by Davenport's Chocolates.
Ditch the frying pan this Shrove Tuesday and head to one of these fantastic cafes in the North East for some delicious, decadent pancake stacks!
Bao Bar is tiny - a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of place. It's found on Chillingham Road in Heaton (just outside of Newcastle) and is a small, walk-in bar offering steamed buns, small plates and pared drinks.
The setting of Love Lily Tearoom is so enviable. The floor-to-ceiling windows look out over Roker Beach in Sunderland and there's something just so delightful in settling down here for breakfast, brunch or lunch after a walk full of sea air.
Thali Tray is an Indian street food eatery found at Arch2 Brewpub & Kitchen in Ouseburn (just up the hill from Ouseburn Farm/ The Ship Inn). I've visited at least three times, and it's always been great. There you go, review done. Just kidding...
Are you taking part in #Veganuary this month? We've rounded up nine that have taken our fancy - give them a try!
