Afternoon tea is the perfect treat for celebrating a special occasion, date night or just because it's the weekend! Although we're still unable to visit restaurants and cafes to enjoy an afternoon tea, there's nothing stopping us from tucking into one at home or taking a box full of delicious delights on a picnic!
I've pulled together a list of 20+ local, independent places that are offering sweet treats that you can enjoy in your home. Some only deliver to certain postcodes, some are for collection only, and some are only available at certain times - but, most definitely, they are all delicious!
(AD) Let me introduce to you a luxury chocolate egg that has it all - and is made right here in the North East of England (Pelaw, Gateshead to be exact): the Natural Spring Salt Egg by Davenport's Chocolates.

Bao Bar is tiny - a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of place. It's found on Chillingham Road in Heaton (just outside of Newcastle) and is a small, walk-in bar offering steamed buns, small plates and pared drinks.
Thali Tray is an Indian street food eatery found at Arch2 Brewpub & Kitchen in Ouseburn (just up the hill from Ouseburn Farm/ The Ship Inn). I've visited at least three times, and it's always been great. There you go, review done. Just kidding...

As many of you will know, January can be a really slow month for lots of businesses in the food and drink industry as everyone has already indulged, feasted and spent all their cash in December during the festive season.
