Mainsgill Farm Shop

If you are ever on an adventure down the A66 I highly suggest stopping at Mainsgill Farm Shop. It may be located right next to a busy road, but it is far from the average, greasy roadside stop-off that you make! As soon as you turn off and head inside, you will feel a warm, friendly atmosphere and that you’ve entered a lovely countryside cafe and shop.

Mainsgill Farm Shop is comprised of a tea room (more of that in a bit!), a farm shop and a gift shop, as well as having lots of farm animals and a play area for children! The two times I’ve visited I’ve seen a camel just chilling with the other animals. I hope it’s still there!

At the tearoom, the choice is endless. You can go and have just a hot drink and scone (or cake…I have heard their cakes are good!) or you can go all out with a fry-up. I really recommend their sausage and egg toasted sandwiches. I was not disappointed! It’s delicious and fills you up for your day of adventure!

I think the food at Mainsgill Farm Shop is even more delicious because everything is either from the Mainsgill farm or locally produced! So after you’ve had your delicious breakfast or stop-off, you can check out their fabulous farm shop that’s stocked with fresh meat, fruit and veg and bread, as well as a host of other things!  This would be an excellent place to buy goods for a hamper or just to treat yourself for Christmas!

If you really want to visit Mainsgill Farm Shop, why not make a day out of it and go and visit High Force Waterfall and Raby Castle? That’s what I did!

You can find Mainsgill Farm Shop along the A66 road at DL11 7PN, and follow them on Facebook!
