Pots & Pancakes

After a busy week, and not much ‘us’ time – we decided to go on a breakfast date! After scouring the internet and twitter we settled on Pots & Pancakes (I will never say “no” to pancakes!) in North Shields.

Pots & Pancakes do exactly what their name suggests – they sell delicious pancakes and also have their own pottery cafe where you can choose to paint a whole host of things from mugs and plates to dragons wrapped around fairytale castles!

We were pushed for time and wanted pancakes over pottery, so settled down and looked at the menu. I chose the raspberry and white chocolate pancake, while MrJ chose a stack of 3 big american style pancakes. They were both delicious! I chose to have cream on the side with mine and it was so tasty that I gobbled it up in record time. MrJ paced himself with his pancakes, but I still had to help him eat his! His pancakes came plain, but he was given a bottle of maple syrup, golden syrup and chocolate sauce on his table to help himself! (I really appreciate this, as sometimes you just want to drench your pancakes in syrup!)

I also had a hot chocolate, and I am not joking when I say it definitely rivals the hot chocolates you get in Thorntons, infact I think it beats Starbucks and Costa hands down. It was one of the best hot chocolates I’ve ever had! So, if you’re looking for a good hot chocolate – this is your place!

I think this would be a great place to come with children, as they can paint pottery while you either join in with them or get some delicious pancakes to eat and a hot drink! It also would be a great place to come for a quirky date. The atmosphere is really relaxed and casual and full of all-sorts of people!

Pots & Pancakes is located on 12a Russell Street, North Shields.
