ChesterFest 2019

[I haven’t been asked or paid to promote this event. It’s happening in my hometown and I want to champion all the local businesses taking part!]

ChesterFest is being held this weekend (Saturday 22nd – Sunday 23rd June) in celebration of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup coming to Chester-le-Street. The festival aims to showcase some of the best food, drink and live music the North East has to offer.

From entertainment and children’s activities to live music and a food theatre stage where visitors will be able to watch live demonstrations from professional chefs, it’s going to be a fantastic weekend.

There will be a range of different aspects to the event including a marquee with a bar featuring bands from across the region. The event is being headlined by The Lake Poets who recently rose to global fame with their song, Shipyards, being used as the theme tune to the Netflix documentary Sunderland Till I Die.

As well as the music there will be a community village inside Hadrian’s Tipi, which will have stands showcasing the best of what the town has to offer with a range of local businesses and community groups including Teesdale Cheese, Vibrant Hair and Beauty, British Heart Foundation, Arty Party, The Cherry Tree, The Job Centre and many more.

A range of food will be available to purchase and sample with vendors such as Re-f-Use Cafe, The Fat Hippo, Spud Gun Loaded Fries, The Little Gin Pot and Fizz on the Tyne (a mobile Prosecco bar). Click here to see a full list of food and drink stalls.

The food area will also feature a food theatre with some of the town’s best restaurants, such as Fabio’s, Refuse and Little Dot Dishes demonstrating how to cook some great dishes on a budget in the cookery theatre.

There will also be a games area where people can sample different sports and enjoy fun games such as a batting simulator, inflatable cricket and football games and speak to local clubs and foundations to learn more about how to take part in these activities.
