Eats Lately

It’s been pretty crazy recently. We’ll be welcoming a new addition to the family soon, and so meals out have been replaced with nursery essentials, nappies (so many nappies) and newborn clothes. We don’t begrudge it one bit, but it has left this blog looking a little lonely. However, we’ve still been indulging our foodie appetites where we can, so here’s a run-down of what we’ve been loving lately:

Caramelised biscuit spread (speculoos) crêpes from La Petite Crêperie, with extra crushed biscuits. (If you didn’t already know, they also have a Nutella Monday where Nutella crêpes are only £1.50 – treat yourself!)

The £5  pizza and pudding takeaway lunch menu at The Herb Garden. There are so many choices to choose from (including vegan). We love the spicy pepperoni, garlic, mozzarella and basil pizza.

Pork and cabbage dumplings from Nan Bei. I could eat these every day. Covered in garlic, chili oil, vinegar and coriander. Delicious!

Courgette fries from Byron. The burgers are great too, but those courgette fries have stolen a portion of my heart.

The chicken platter from Lola Jeans. We love the quirky interior of their Newcastle location and were impressed with their food offering. It made for a really informal and sociable night out.

Fruit scones from The Staiths Café. This place is truly a hidden gem in Gateshead whether you come for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The prices are great and I can never resist one of their big fruity scones.

Sausage rolls from Urban Bakery in Low Fell. Homemade with flaky pastry, you can get them in all sorts of flavours including dijon, black pudding and pickle.

What have been your favourite eats lately? Share the foodie love with us on the blog, Twitter or Facebook!

  1. I can highly recommend Hawthorns – AMAZING food!

    1. I’ve just been checking the NE1 Restaurant Week line-up for January and their set menu looks very appealing! I also loved your blog post about them! x

  2. Hey Rosie! Sounds like you’re getting ready for the new arrival – you must be so excited. I’m loving the sound of those dumplings from Nan Bei, I really must check them out. I had tapas out at the newly extended Allards in Tynemouth last night and really enjoyed the flatbreads and also the sweet potato fries…
