The Boiler Shop Steamer

The Boiler Shop Steamer is a monthly event held on the first Friday and Saturday of every month (so, if you haven’t realised already….it’s happening today!) The event celebrates local food & drink, music, art and culture and brings some of the best UK street vendors together to sell you deliciousness while you listen to great live music. With a very urban vibe on the Friday evenings, the Saturday session of the event starts at noon so is perfect for a family outing!

Here’s the lowdown:
Friday – 5.30pm until midnight
Saturday – noon until midnight
£4 entry on the door, but free before 6pm on Saturday

And, we wouldn’t be a very good food blog if we didn’t mention some of the amazing street vendors selling their wares at this month’s event (sometimes they change so check the website if you want to know exactly who’ll be there!):
Crepe Lucette – unique, vintage crepes. They are offering a ‘MAN’ crepe this weekend, which is basically just a fry-up up inside a crepe.
El Kantina – this street vendor excites me, Mexican and Southern street food. Pulled pork sliders. Nachos. What is not to love?
Sugar Down Bakery – with 4 sorts of empanada + 2 salsas, churros + chilli chocolate, and pasteis de nata (Portuguese tarts), this stall offers delicious sweet and savoury options!
Pizzette – a wood fired pizza oven that produces authentic hand-stretched pizzas made from fresh sourdough. Expect a line at this one.

I could go on, but I’d rather you just go there and see all that’s on offer.
So, if you fancy doing something a bit different then getting a take-away and sitting in front of the TV this weekend, I highly recommend this event! You’ve got the details now, so go!

For further details, please see The Boiler Shop Steamer’s website, Twitter or Facebook.
The event is located at The Boiler Shop, Robert Stephenson Centre, Sussex Street (behind Central Station).
