The biggest foodie event in the North-East is back again this year.
For 16 days, EAT Festival will be presenting you with all things food to make you appreciate how good we’ve got it here in the North-East. From workshops to pop-up restaurants there is really something to do (and taste!) for everyone. From Friday 23rd August – Sunday 8th September, there will be foodie events happening all day, every day. Some are free events and some require paid ticket entry. So to make sure you don’t miss out: see their brochure and ticket page. With children and teen food classes, and fine-dining and wining nights, you can have fun no matter what your age or interests. Here are our favourite EAT Festival events that we think you should get involved in:
- Cake City.
Monday 26th August.
We love cake. So what could be better than a map of the Newcastle and Gateshead area made entirely out of cake? Not much. Visit here to find out more.
- Eat-Along Movies.
I think this is such a fantastic idea. Engross yourself even more into a film by eating dishes of food that are featured in the movie. If you love Japanese food, then this is the event for you as both films feature sushi and noodles. Click here for more information.
- City Garden Family Barbecue.
Saturday 7th September.
Hopefully the weather will remain beautiful for this event in September hosted by Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Grill. No booking required. For further details click here.
- Afternoon *Tea on the Quayside.
Sunday 8th September.
A whimsical outdoor tea party with pompoms and fine china. A range of local producers’ treats will be tempting you on vintage cake stands while you sip a cup of tea from The *TeaShed. To book click here.
- Naked Feasts @ Fenwick Rooftop Dinner.
Thursday 29th August/ Friday 30th August.
Drinks, canapes and a 3-course banquet. Who could say no to this? With a fantastic location on the top of iconic Fenwick department store, you will be treated to culinary delights from 5 up-and-coming chefs. Buy your tickets by clicking here.
We had such a hard time choosing our top 5 events, as there are so many to choose from, and they all look fabulous! So check out the EAT! Festival website, their Facebook and Twitter page to get fully involved. And let us know what you end up doing and how you enjoyed it!
